wind speed depends on convective/radiative nature of the outer envelope
can also be affected by metallicity
entire convective envelope rotates rigidly with angular speed of surface
shear between convective / radiative envelopes causes a.m. loss
at the fringes of the main sequence, magnetic coupling takes effect
